Had a pentair warrior SE that died. Looking for a new robot. The only thing I didnt like about the warrior was that the cable shredded, it started to get stuck on the main drain after the first season (bought drain covers which worked), died after 3 years. I liked that I could use my zwave smart outlet to kick off a run.

the marketing for these robot companies is really bad
They should know people want to know if the robot cycle can be initiated using a smart outlet (automation mode) and that should be prominent in their marketing.

How is the evo 502 vs the 614 IQ?
It looks like the 502 doesnt have scheduling, can it be turned on with a smart outlet?
Can the 614IQ be scheduled to run daily?
Is the cable on the aquabot shredding like the dolphin?

Which robot?

My top priorities:
Can definitely schedule it to run daily. I would prefer to schedule using a smart outlet, but an app would be ok.
Cable does not shred
Does not get stuck on the main drain
I can leave it in the pool all year round running daily.
Can clean dust

I dont care about:
driving it remotely
bluetooth/wifi
complex programs

M,

I have the EVO 614iQ which has an app... I would not normally buy a robot that has an app, but in this case, it was all they had in stock.

I don't use the app much, as I only put the EVO in my pool once or twice a week..

But.. The great thing about the app is that you can set up a schedule for each day.. And it will repeat forever unlike the Dolphins that only run for a week at a time.

If I planed on leaving the EVO in the pool, I would get the 614iQ with the app.

The cable is about twice the size of the Dolphin's cable and much more robust.

I would also get the additional extra fine filter basket.

At this point, if I needed another robot it would be an EVO..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I looked at your thread for sure, but it was too long to read the whole thing. After a year of having it, has the cable started to disintegrate like the dolphin ones?

M,

The cable still looks brand new...

The point of my linking the Review was more just so you could see the difference between the little Dolphin cable and the bigger EVO cable..

Obviously, still don't know if the EVO will outlast the Dolphin, but at this point I don't see any more Dolphins in my future...

Thanks,

Jim R.
