Which direction should this diverter valve be

Hey guys, was doing some maintenance and in my infinite wisdom forgot to take before pictures, and I can’t for the life of me recall which orientation the bottom diverter valve should be, the one next to the chlorinator.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Welcome to TFP.

It is builder malpractice to not label all pipes and the direction of water flow.

This looks like a return pipe with water flowing downward.

Wherever the OFF label on the handle is positioned blocks that pipe and closes the water flow. Right now no water will flow down to either branch of the pipe.

You can position the valve for water to flow to pipe A or B or both. Not knowing what they lead to I cannot tell you what the proper position is.

With the valve in the position in your pic, all your water is going back to your spa spillover, and none to your pool returns. The purpose of that valve is so that you can adjust the amount of spillover..

I suggest that you set the valve to send most of the water to your pool returns, and only a little water to your spa spillover..
