Where to place anode-in-pipe?

I know there is some debate about the efficacy of having an anode in the plumbing like this:


That said, let's say I want to put one in "just in case" as part of my upgrades to my pump, filter and adding an SWG. Where should I put it? After the pump? After the filter? After the heater? After the SWG? Return that thing, it is totally useless?

I am in the process of installing a swg. I also opted for the anode for insurance. I am installing between my pump and filter. The only main reason being that is where I have space without significant rework. From the reading I have done and my limited knowledge on corrosion - as long as it is the the system and bonded, placement shouldn’t matter.

I agree with Jmc, although I would bet he is almost the only person in the state of Texas with an anode. It tends to be a "Back-East" kind of device.

In my mind totally useless, but I have to agree it can't hurt a thing.

I'm have a salt pool without one. I also have real salt water everywhere nearby and still no problems. But if it helps Sean sleep at night, then its an awesome device. Heck I might get one too for the sleeping alone. Lol

I might have a look at getting and anode ball or plate to put in the skimmer. I have a very high salt content due to the SWG JustChlor J100SC. 6000 ppm!!
