Hi all. Have a staining issue on our fg pool so after ready many posts, am going to do an ascorbic acid treatment and use a metal sequestrant. First, where do I get ascorbic acid. None of my local PS have it, have called Trader Joe's, GNC, even having trouble finding online (except for the chemistry store). Also, what do people recommend as the best sequestrant now? Thanks!

With the AA, it is usually recommended to get the granules. The powder can be a bit hard to deal with if it's windy and it tends to float on the surface of the water. I ordered the powder before I knew about the recommendation and can attest to the wind issue.

Rats! Good point on the granular vs powder. There were reviews that someone used this product for a FG pool and had great results. Well, will have to hope for a non windy day and let the water circulate the powder. Fingers crossed!

I used powder with no real issues. Just had to be careful and pour it in close to the surface

Thanks, will do. Acid arrives Friday so will let y'all know how it goes. Spoke with a rep from Jack's Magic. They tried to sell their Iron & Cobalt product, but I think in going to go the straight ascorbic acid route. From a sequestrant standpoint, they have several, but recommended the Blue Stuff as I have an FG pool. Fingers crossed this all works!

Hi. So I did the treatment last night. The first dose of ascorbic acid had impressive results, but I ended up doing a 2nd dose once the first was done recirculating. At that point, I added a bottle of Jack's Magic Blue Stuff and switched the equipment to filter and ran overnight. So far, so good! Thank you to everyone for their help in this post and in others re: Fiberglass stains and ascorbic acid treatments. Question: do I need to backwash once the sequestrant has had time to work?
