Just opened my pool this weekend. 2 years ago I replaced my Hayward single speed 1-HP Super Pump with a similar AO Smith pump from a discount pool supplier. The pump seems to be working fine, no issues with pumping the water, filter gauge is normal, no air pockets in the basket in front of the pump. Water looks great, levels are fine. But the pump itself seems to be a little louder than I remember it being the last couple of years.
Just before my last pump died, it made very loud and high pitch sounds which sounded like the pump was under stressed. What I am hearing today doesn't sound as loud, but how do I know if it is going bad or if it needs to be replaced? Is there any way to test it or take it somewhere to test it?
Thanks,
Joe
