What's the right part for CCP420?

My CCP420 it's leaking through the cap plug at the bottom. It may be just the O-ring but for $20 I might as well replace the entire cap. I see online that there are two part numbers for the same cap: this one and this one

Do you guys know what the difference is? Mine looks like the second one so that's probably what I'd order but I'm curious about why two parts for the same thing?
 
One is for a tank that was manufactured after May 2005 (the second one you gave a link to). You may be able to find the manufacture date for your filter if you can locate its serial/part number sticker (silver) or the large sticker on the tank may tell you.

There was probably a manufacturing change in the tank that warranted the change in the plug. Clearances, ease of access, etc.
