I check my FC every morning around 6:30am before the sun hits the pool. My target is 6-8. Used to be 8-10 but the rain/back washing dropped my CYA from 70 to 50.

Lately it has been hot and sunny. My FC is hanging around 7-8 in the mornings during this heat spell. Well yesterday is when I realized my cya was down to 50. This morning after yesterday being cloudy & rainy my FC was 11. I have my SWG on a timer so I am thinking about turning it off an hr or two earlier depending on my calculations in pool math.

So...leave it alone and let it ride high on cloudy days or keep it where I know it will maintain my target on the sunny hot days? Or add more stabilizer?

Gotcha. I thought 5 was the minimum for a non SWG. Target was still 8-10.

Kinda confusing between that chart and what pool math says...

Be sure in PoolMath you have selected your pool type, the parameters you are following, and the type of chlorination you use. They are located towards the bottom of the PoolMath page.

Take care.

I have everything plugged in correctly. At the bottom of pool math it says minimum 3 target 8-10. The other chart says target 5 for 70 cya.

There are some minor discrepancies. I use 7.5% of CYA for a minimum and 10% of CYA for my target. Keeps me in the good zone all the time.

The SWG minimum and target is shown to be lower as it is assumed you add the chlorine over a longer period and have fewer peaks and valleys of FC vs using liquid chlorine and dosing once per day.

Take care.
