Good morning,

Please, provide your input:

Miami Dade County Pool Setbacks are:

Swimming Pool Setbacks
Front 75’
Interior side 10’
Rear 7.5’
Side street 20’
Swimming pools shall be constructed no closer than 18” to any wall.

My backyard is 15 x 50.

What would be my options (size of the pool)?

Thanks…

An overhead picture of your lot would be helpful, but one essential question is if there are any streets on your property borders except the front.

Otherwise you would take the width minus twice the side setback and the depth less the rear setback and distance to closest house wall. That gives you your maximum pool size as a starting point. Maximum pool size won’t necessarily equal optimal though.

It sounds like since you have to be 7.5’ off the back, and 1.5’ off the House, it can be no wider than 6’. Then, 10’ off each side, so no longer than 30’. Unless I’m reading it wrong or not understanding properly.

looking at the picture, I can see trees at the edge of your yard. Do you back up to a conservation area? I ask because we do back up to one, and our property line goes a few feet beyond our “yard.”

I think you could make a nice pool out of 6'X30'. Since you won't be going for size, maybe you could go for quality. How about a swim-up bar, or fire pit, waterfalls, etc. At 30' long, you can make it shallow, deep, or both. Since the width is only 6ft across, you could do something fun like a bridge. Perhaps the bulk of your seating area is along the fence, and you have a little bridge that connects it to the house.
