what to do / check when replacing sand on sand filter?

Replacing the sand in my filter. How a few questions:

1. Someone said to check some part of the filter that could be broken and could lead to excessive loss of sand during backwashes. What am I looking for?

2. S200 body o-ring broke. S200 manual says part is: SX200Z7.

I found it here: Amazon.com but the only review says it does not fit the S200.

I found a similarly affordable item here: SX200Z7 O-ring Replacement Fits Hayward Seamless Sealing S200 Series Sand Filter | eBay

And how big is the diameter supposed to be exactly? I don't see any specs on this particular item. I can get these two items for free:

...so if all items fit, I'd rather get one of the above items.

Which should I get?

3. How clean do I need to get the filter before filling it up with sand? It's getting difficult scooping the rest of the sand out at the bottom (using a plastic scoop to avoid damaging any of the filter's plastic parts).

4. Any other service/inspection steps I missed? Going to use Amazon.com that someone on here suggested to install the o-ring (when I get it).

Also am I crazy or do all the sites online say the gasket is 20" whereas I measure 24 or 25 inches?

Could I have a Hayward S240? The label is too faded for me to tell. Is there somewhere else that would have a label?

I would get the Hayward part:

You can/should use a wet/dry shop vac to remove all the sand around the laterals.
All the internal plastic parts should be removed and inspected now. To do it again later is a big pain.

Magic lube II is the correct lube.

The latterals are the plastic tubes on the bottom? Is there a disassembly guide? I don't want to break anything.

Also can you confirm from my pictures that I indeed have an S200?

That is an old filter. Not clear if you have fixed or folding laterals. Here's the closest I can get to the rebuild.

I cannot confirm on the S-200...the 200 and 400 have a different top and being old I don't have the dimensions.

Maybe @JamesW has them...

See more pictures attached.

1. Is that clean enough or do I need to get more sand out of it?
2. It says S-200-L on the assembly (pictured). I assume that means I have an S200.
3. One of the tops on the lateral assembly is built (the orange crown thing). I bent it back a bit with my fingers, but fear I will break it if I try harder. Should I just leave it alone? Perhaps use a heat gun to pull it back into place?
4. I attached a better picture of the laterals.

Also the video says to replace the laterals?

I think you are fine. If you are not committed to a full rebuild, those laterals look to be in good condition. If you have not had problems with the filter, then follow the instructions for adding sand. You want to have water in the filter before adding sand. Read your manual.

In the future, there is really never any reason to replace sand filter, unless you gummed it up with the wrong chemicals, or you have a broken lateral or internal.

The laterals are twist off. I could not twist them off all the way because they hit the side, but I unscrewed them partially and then screwed them back in just to check for lateral damage. I saw no obvious damage.

Any comment on the bent orange crown piece?
