Hello everyone !

Livelox here.
I have managed to find the one and only distributor of Taylor kits in Europe, and managed to get a catalogue of the products they sell.
I can get FAS-DPD K-1515A at around 75$ and the Lamottte EC-5 for around 60$ for CYA checking, or FTk-2002 for CYA test for around 47$.
Also available Taylor 2006- 200$
FTK-Basic Strips - 14$

However I can get the FAS-DPD in reagents,
R0003- 10$ - 22mL
R0870 25$-10gr
R0871 23$ -22mL
R0871 30$- 60mL

I believe getting the R0870 R003 and R0871 22mL, will do the job. Totaling at 58$ give or take.

Lastly I can get K-1005 for 84$ which I am only missing the FAS-DPD test.

Should I just wait for a bit of cash and just get the Taylor K-2006 ?

Thank you
Livelox

Wow, those prices are harsh! I don’t even want to know what they’d charge you for a SpeedStir

A K-1005 is a good tester for daily testing needs. You could get that and the individual DPD-FAS reagents (R-0870 & R-0871) for when you need very accurate testing. The K-1005 comes with R-0003 for CC testing.

If you get the #9056 hi-range comparator block (needs the R-0004 reagent for pH), then I can teach you a trick for titrating the DPD side of that block so that you don’t have to use R-0870 powder (bit you should have it on hand anyway for emergencies).

I see. Thanks for the info. I can get K1005 for 83$.
I have my own speedstir so no need to worry anout that. Haha!
Alright. Ill see what I will do.
Thanks alot

If you can get the #9056 comparator block, then it gives you color matching blocks up to 10ppm. It’s not easy to see the difference between 7.5ppm and 10ppm but you can if you’ve got a good eye. The K-1005 only comes with the midget comparator which tops out at 5ppm FC.

Here’s the trick - adding the R-0001/R-0002 to the comparator block is the same as adding R-0870 powder to the large vial. It’s just less concentrated DPD so it’s easier to bleach out at high FC. However, the R-0001/R-0002 titrates just the same as the R-0870 powder. So, with the #9056 comparator block, the FC side is about 10mL (9.5 to be exact). Therefore you can titrate the R-0001/R-0002 test from pink to clear just as you do in the other test using 0.5ppm/drop and the results are the same. You can then add the R-0003 to see if there are any CCs. So you get a DPD-FAS titration test on-the-cheap!! I’ve done side-by-side comparisons of both methods and get the same results.

I see

I have received an answer.
FTK2002 and K1515A together for 88$ should be around 100$ with shipping. Do you believe is worth it ?
Also K2006 for 150$ with shipping i believe.
I had a quote back.

If you believe it is not worth it tell me. I am thinking of buying the K1515A i believe.
Thanks again
Livelox.
