Read the article and three threads I posted just above here in post #15...

Short story is that it only works with low levels of CYA 20-30...and even then, not well.

For a 38,000 gallon pool do you think the RJ 60 will work well ? Any larger output units? Looking to get closer to 80. Thanks

He *will* be *great*. (y) I have an IC60 a few miles away with only a couple thousand less gallons. Our miserably hot stretches only last a week or two and the cell still laughs at them.
The RJ 60 is $ 1399 (get a warranty)

The IC60 is $ 2484 (No warranty)

For me that's a big difference.

I'll put the RJ head unit in an enclosure to protect it and call it good

Something like this

+1. Its advised to protect it, or at least it used to be, so I'd build a small roof such with lots of airflow.

The only reason to go pentair is for automation purposes. Even then, almost $1100 would make me seriously consider if i really needed it. Lol

We have oodles and oodles (and 5 more oodles) of happy circupool members to vouch for it.
Perhaps I will cut holes to allow ventilation just stop some of the UV damage
IIRC, it was mostly for the elements of the wet variety. Especially us north where snow may sit on top of the controller for a month in the winter. A roof is a small price to pay for pocketing $1100 over the Pentair with a steel box protecting it.

The unit puts off a fair amount of heat. An enclosure with a bit more breathing room makes sense. Most of the heat comes off the sink at the top. I'd make sure there are openings around the top like this:

Thanks I agree with all your points. Since you are so local, would you know a good pool guy that is local to us? I’ve always done my own so I’m out of that loop. I will open the pool in Mid April and I am Looking for weekly cleaning and chemistry check top off for May and June until I am recovered from surgery.
Thanks
Thanks

Jeff

Awesome picture. Will be making some version of this for my unit. Thanks

Thats like asking a DEA agent where you can score black market pills. :laughblue:

Link 1 and Link 2. do alot of work in your area. You might be hard pressed finding a smaller company that's taking on extra clients.

Most companies I called are not taking new customers - I guess business is too good or they cannot find good help? I do have a neighbor I can lean heavily on but I don't thing its fair to ask him to do all this weekly work for the better part of the Summer. Will be making more calls today and waiting for calls back. Never imagined this would be and issue since I have been my own pool boy since day one.

A little of both. The two I listed are larger so I was hoping they had enough crews to squeeze you in. Don't tell anybody that its short term, you might have better chances if they think you're going to be long term. If they get two calls and have one spot open, you'd lose if the other guy needed full time service.

I was honest with them, perhaps that my problem.

The search continues.

I would never use an outside service for something I can do better myself.

I spoke to Circupool about the newer unit and they are coming out with a 60 cell version - not sure when . I will be making a decision on the RJ60+ or waiting on the newer release of the larger WIFI system.. If I get a Pool company to do weekly service while I am laid up I may wait and if not - then I will pull the trigger on the RJ60+ Hopefully will know Monday.
