What size SWCG

Jsf,

Before you add any salt, you need to know what is in the pool now...

If you have been using Liquid Chlorine, it may be much higher than you think.

Adding it early will not hurt anything.

You do not want any chemical to just sit on your liner.. Sweep it around so that it mixes with your pool water.

Thanks,

Jim R.

How long does it take salt to liquify ? Water is cold. Low 50s my guess

Jsf,

Add the salt, and then let the pump run for 24 hours, and you should be good to go.

That said.... most salt cells will not work when the water temp is below about 55 degrees..

Thanks,

Jim R.
I guess I missed the temperature constraints. What do people do with an off site pool that I only see weekends ? Pucks in skimmer basket ? I was removing the chlorinator to install the generator. Same pipe area.

When the water is too cold for the SWG to work, the UV demand is next to nothing. Add to 10ppm and you'll have 6+ of it left next weekend.
salt will go in totonight
Let us know what the baseline was. I'll guess 1000 to1500 because we got a ton of rain over the winter and you haven't added much back yet.
