What percentage of bleach to use and other questions

It's been hard to find liquid bleach in my area, but we found some from Sam's club that says it is 7.55% chlorine. Is this the number I put into the app or do I have to calculate some other percentage?

Also, has anyone purchased Target's Up and Up brand of chlorine ? The price is excellent but I can not find the percentage anywhere so have not purchased it.

Last question....do I have to adjust the TA before I adjust PH? Both of mine are out of range but thought I wasn't supposed to adjust both at the same time.

Thanks

pH= 6.8
TA = 40

The percentage should be as high as you can find. If the % of your chlorine is 7.55, that's what you put into PoolMath. Make sure the bleach is unscented and has no additives that make it splashless. No Cloromax technology.

I'm not sure on the TA/pH question, but I believe if you raise your pH the TA will slowly fall into line. Hopefully others with a clearer answer will chime in.

You can add 6lbs - (2 boxes)of soda ash to get ph to 7.6 & ta to about 60.
You can get it at Walmart in the laundry section 2EFCB796-5B4D-43FF-B9B2-5312665A57C0.jpeg be sure its this & not the detergent

Ph & ta are married- when ph increases or decreases ta does also just in different proportion. if Have you been using pucks or trichlor “shock” products- they are acidic & can cause this problem.
please readABCs of Pool Water Chemistry
Also try looking for liquid chlorine @ big box stores in the pool section- maybe try a mom & pop pool store they usually carry 12%

Thanks. We haven't used any tablets. Only liquid chlorine. The acidity is probably coming from our pine trees that drop needles and wound up in our pool over the winter. Can't for the life of me find liquid chlorine anywhere but Sam's or a grocery store. All of the pool stores only carry granules or tablets. Bummer.

Let it mix in well & circulate for at least 30 minutes then recheck - ph may be lower than 6.8 so if you don’t get the rise u expected use PoolMath to calculate how much more u need.
Here we have been having luck getting the pool essentials chlorine @ Walmart. & I’ve seen 6% @ dollar general

BJ's Wholesale Club usually has a 4-pack of PoolTech Shock (12.5%) for $14.99 during the early to mid-summer. Beware though, I've had to return a couple batches that were basically water despite reasonably recent dates-of-production. (That's the big drawback of concentrated bleach: You don't have to carry as much, but it loses its strength much more rapidly than 6% Clorox.)
