I'd take the cartridge out and not replace the cartridge, or if it is empty, just leave it empty. Have you had any pool staining?

I'm new to the industry, this is a green pool I'm cleaning up. Only day 2 but as far as I can see it doesn't look like there is staining. I checked this morning and the cartridge has been removed. I'm sure by the last guy who retired. Tested no copper.
