What is this setup in my skimmer?

The return jets across the skimmer suction and out into the pool. Someone told me it was to create a vortex to improve skimmer capture under the basket. Someone else told me it was to balance or equalize to the bottom drain. In any case I have no access to my 2 suction ports in the skimmer. And my side suction will not pull enough to power my suction cleaner. Water jets from the nozzle (top) to the open line (bottom) going out to the pool side.

It is a 'magic' venturi system that takes return water from your pump and in theory makes skimming better.. It is usually installed when people have In-Floor-Cleaning Systems... In my opinion, it is mostly marketing...

You should have a valve at the equipment pad to turn it on and off. Usually a PVC ball valve...

I have a 2 inch pvc ball valve on the main return. Another on a 3/4 inch going to an abandoned in deck chlorinator. And then the A&A IFCS manifold with no valves.
