what is the purpose of the pipe on the left? The one coming out of the ground? It used to be covered with duct tape I believe.

Is the pipe the same diameter as the two suctions lines?
What is the function of the other two lines?
Do you have a suction port on the side of the pool?
Maybe set up for a pressure side cleaner?

No, it is a narrower pipe. Maybe 1.5 inches.
The other pipes you see in the picture are two of the three suction lines; two skimmers and one pipe for the two drains. The third pipe was just cut out of the picture.
No suction port.
I might just have to ask the pool builder what it's for. The strange thing is I feel like it's almost an "air" pipe like on the house for plumbing system. Makes no sense for a pool though. And, if I remember correctly it was covered with duct tape and now that appears to be gone.
