What Is This Floating In My Pool?

Opened the pool a few weeks ago. It was pretty nasty, couldn't see the bottom in the deep end. Pretty much followed TFP recommended treatments to clear it up (shock, brushing, etc.) while paying very close attention to keeping my chemistry properly balanced. I used liquid chlorine (bleach) and cal-hypo granules. I used clarifier a couple times per manufacturer's recommendations being careful not to overdo it. Cleaned my cartridge filters a few times, including one acid soak. My filters are clean at the moment. Chemistry is spot on and has been ever since I got the pool clean.

Since things cleared up I've been seeing what I can best describe as floating, almost clear corn flakes. I only see them when the water has been still overnight (no circulation). When you touch the flakes they instantly disintegrate. Using a net they just break up into fine pieces that the net can't catch. The whole surface of the pool is covered. I'd say a dozen or so flakes per square foot. Aside from the floating flakes the water is crystal clear. I've attached a photo.

There is a large tree nearby. I'm not aware of any contaminants that got into the pool. The pool was drained and filled right before closing in the fall.

So... what are they and how do I get rid of them?

My personal guess would be a "leftover" chemical reaction.

Honestly TFP methods don't include clarifiers, because they aren't necessary :) and often cause more problems than they solve.

Looks like tree pollen. I notice you have leaves in your pool, some trees and plants are still slinging pollen around. Nasty trees, get a room already!

Or, as @splashpad suggests, it's precipitate from a chemical reaction. Who knows which one.

Just keep breaking them up so they either go back into solution or get picked up by your skimmer.
