What is this? Crystal-Clean Sanitizer

Anyone know what this is? New to me pool/house. This is with a SWG (intellichlor 40) system, but also has this box and an electrode (2nd picture) on a dead end on the return side of the filter.

Google cant find the company, product, EPA number, nothing.
(Before anyone says, its off, and I think its broke, as it was "on" with no power showing the level in the picture. I turned it off at its switchknob, before I gave the whole pool system power)

Judging by the color around the electrode, I'd bet it's a copper ionizer. Weird that it would be installed like it is, but I'm sure they had a good reason. Well, I'm sure they had a reason they thought was good anyway

I probably should have mentioned, that "pipe" is clear (I can see water moving around in it). So not saying its not copper, but any sorta chemical process.

Probably a copper ionizer.

I would remove it before your pool looks like this.

Black Algae and High Copper

I used the Copper Ionizer and did not notice copper went high 1.5. Pool wall and bottom is black color now. It looks like black Black Algae. Please advice how to control the Copper or black Algae. I used No Metal from Leslie pool and cleaned the filters, no luck.

Can you open the box and show the inside?

It should unscrew and you can use a threaded plug 2" NPT.

Probably an ionizer.

I would remove it.

I would test the water for copper and look for any signs of copper like stains etc.

No copper in the water, had that tested already. Ive some stains in spots but not sure if its cuz the pool has sat for unknown years (at least 3).
