What is my Polaris picking up in my pool?

Likely calcium flake. Your CSI is pretty high. Take some and put a drop or two of muriatic acid on it. If it fizzes, it is calcium.

I would recommend you lower your TA. If you can get it down to 80-90, you will get close to 0 CSI.

If you follow this process, and cycle between 7.0 and 7.4 while you are doing it, it will a) go faster (CO2 outgases the fastest between 7.0 and 7.4 and 2) lower pH will lower the CSI and likely stop/slow the flaking while you are lowering TA.

My fill water is at that TA, so it's quite tough for me to permanently lower TA. This is the first season I've seen this also.

I'll start trying! And report back...

There are two tricks to lowering TA.
1) cycle between 7.0 and 7.4.
2) Make LOTS of VERY tiny bubbles.

I got a sump pump, put it in a bucket to protect the pool, and built this on top of it. I drilled 5-10 1/4" holes in each cap. I can lower TA by 10 in 12 hours (30K pool). You can probably do 10 in 8 hours. You should build something like this so you can get your TA down when you add more water.

What size is the PVC? I already have the sump pump...
