Tomorrow I have a contractor coming to lay out for leveling and compacting the ground for my pool. The pool instructions call for crushed rock around the basin of the pool. As well as under the pressure plates. So can I just get the crushed rock on the entire area I’m having compacted and add my 3” of sand on top of that? I would have to dig some after they lay the base to get my patio blocks and buttresses flush with the ground. Thanks in advance for any help. These instructions are about as clear as mud.

This part worried me............it should be dug down to the lowest level all the way around with NO adding dirt or such to bring any area up to level it.
You could put the crushed rock but it needs to be very fine and even then I would worry about one of the rocks pocking up and messing up the liner. The 3" of sand might help keep that from happening though. I just want you to think it all the way through.
Right I was going to have them dig it level and then compact it. Is this a no no? The instructions say to put the crushed rock around the basin 2” deep with a foot on each side of the pool wall
If it is virgin dirt will should not need to be compacted.........smoothed yes...........Compact to me means it is loose dirt that someone is trying to smooch back down. We may be saying the same thing so I wanted to tell you what my thinking is.

Thank you. I’m gonna skip the compacting. I’ll just have them dig to virgin dirt to level it.
