What did you do to your pool today?

Today, I did what any normal Ohioan would do on June 1.....chiseled the ice away and added MA and bleach. 57 degrees!

One of my friends in Cincy posted a FB pic Sunday they heated the water to 85 and we're enjoying a day in the pool.

Today I took all my returns apart and scrubbed the inlets out with a toothbrush. I am a little OCD about cooties taking hold. Friday my PB is coming to replace the ring around my light. I have the scrub brush ready for him since I will be at work.

I want to know how that pro head comes out Bo, and Dave your thing too. I have the head that takes cut string. I have a love hate for it, but my Echo is going on 8, and I have no complaints. Excellent machine.

Today, I didn't do much but read what everyone else did these last few days. Northrn made me laugh at chipping ice but I feel the pain. We have been cold this year too.

I guessed my additions tonight, and ran out of bleach. So, I'm short on FC till tomorrow.

Patrick, the head i got is the one that takes the cut string. I read rave reviews about the thing... so we'll see how it works out.
Im not gonna put up with it for long though if it gives me any trouble! It ain't worth it!

I used it yesterday for the first time. Worked like a champ. The installation instructions leave a bit to be desired, though. I just got the new Echo this spring and began by using the auto-feed head that came with it. Once the trimmer line was used up out of that, the auto-feed came off and on went the Pro-Feed head. Much better experience IMHO - simple pull to remove the worn line and push to replace it with a new section of pre-cut line. No tangled lines to deal with.

As for what I did to my pool today, swam laps before work and then added its daily dose of bleach in the evening.

Oh, Ok, Mine uses precut sections. I didn't know it was called a pro head. I still buy a spool, and cut mine. In fact, I just used up a very old spool the other day, and I need more for this weekend. I can't keep up with all this rain!

I've got to get some Bleach in today, but I'm out. I may have that "need some FC" haze in the water by today's end.

I used to have a homelite that used precut pieces of .105. It was a PITA because I was doing commercial work, and had to change the string too often. I tried my new speed feed head a couple days ago. Works awesome. Much better than the previous u-turn head. As for the pool, I did a full battery of tests today. Everything looks good.

I had the HAZE really bad when I got home. Apparently, we had 7 swimmers in there all day long yesterday.

FC 1.6
CC 0.6. I never have CC.

We'll see how it is this morning, but I bet it's back to Crystal when the Sun comes up.

Yesterday I added some teflon tape and teflon paste to the basket connection the the pump. Sealed up like a dolphin's butt!

Today all I've done is added some heat. I'm a bit discouraged that the weather isn't very nice and maybe I'm wasting $ on gas. Oh well, I can regret it when the bill comes!

Thanks for showing us lelandapple, do you have a rebuild thread running on here somewhere?

Believe or not, all we have been doing is swimming in our pool. Really going through the Bleach now though. Getting some nice weather, so hopefully it holds.

Im going to test and add some CYA today. And I have no doubt I will be diving in a few times too since its gonna be mid 90s here again today!
Ive been doing some repair work to my shorage shed the last few days and will be installing a drip edge on the roof of it today, so I will be hot and need to cool off quick!

I did a bunch of reading about burning eyes. Last season the only problems I had with burning eyes was when the ph got to 7.8. I've been keeping everything in line with tfp. Had a BUNCH of kids in the pool 3 days ago. Kids said their eyes burnt. Noticed the pool was not as crystal clear as usual. No one in the pool the day before yesterday. BUNCH of kids in the pool again yesterday. Eyes burned again. Still not as crystal clear as usual. Wife is gonna stop at rural king to get a couple cases of 12% today to supplement the swg and knock this thing back clear. Found a mole and a vole in the skimmer yesterday that could've been in there for 48 hrs since I don't think I checked the skimmers the day before yesterday. Moral of the story... Keep the peeing kids out of my perfectly balanced, crystal clear pool!!!

Today I did the once to twice yearly deep cleaning of the spa. Drained all the water out of it, dried it, then shop-vac'd any of the fine debris that was left over. Removed all the eyeball sockets and soaked them in a solution of bleach and water. Used a bleach-laden toothbrush to scrub isolated spots on the plaster that looked a little spotty as well as scrubbed those parts that I could not disassemble. Then I reassembled the eyeball sockets, refilled the spa, and SLAMmed it - isolated the spa circulation from the pool. Let FC come back down from shock levels, rebalanced the water and reset the valves to my normal operation where the spa and pool water both circulate through the system and the spa spills over into the pool. Back to normal.

On a side note- what a difference a week of sunshine and seasonal temperatures makes - water zoomed from 74°F to 85°F without running the heater.

Yeah buddy! Pool was 88 yesterday afternoon! Brushed, checked chlorine/pH, skimmers, leaf basket, filter pressure and dove in. Should have checked CYA since it's been a week. But, I'm a slacker! :)

Added Baking Soda to bring the pH up and I can't believe I'm really saying this, but put two floaters in the pool with four tabs. MY CYA is actually starting to get low and the sun is eating my chlorine....
