What did you do to your pool today?

For some reason (might the a placebo effect) I find that the Doheny stuff lasts longer. I would think that CYA is CYA but it just seems to be better for me.

Opened cover and threw my robot in to give it a good scrubbing also vacuumed stairs with my hand held Lydsto vac. It was good to tinker with it a bit although I got a severe itch to open soon. Water temp is at 48dg and I’m holding 17ppm FC so did not add any this time.

Pointlessly used my skimmer net thing to scoop out some leaves and worms from our crazy winds and storms. My pool isn’t fully open yet — we just took the cover off on Friday, so no pump running yet. I was just bored lol. I’ll wait until tomorrow to run the robot and stuff. We will be firing up all the equipment sometime this week and officially “open” the pool. Waiting on a replacement cartridge. Here was my situation before the leaf scoopage. It looks way better than it actually was lol. The worms are not visible in the pic (I took this from my deck during a brief moment of sunshine), but they are plentiful.

We have a store here called Bucks -its a discount/overtock hardware store. If you’re not picky about colors they carry lots of stain for cheap. I was already locked in to my selection unfortunately.

I'm picky about type of stain. I hate any latex or acrylic stains. I only use oil based stains.

They do have lots of variety - even the ready seal,which is oil based, just in the wrong color for my deck. We call it the “dirt cheap” hardware store not sure if they have other locations.

Speaking of chores, it’s time to clean and stain the fence. The price of stain is just staggering these days. Sigh.

This year it works out that I have to stain the main deck, the main fence, and the side fence. At least the pool deck is good for now. I feel your pain.

We have a ReStore near here. Habitat for Humanity runs them. People donate all sorts of stuff, from furniture to leftover building materials. Lots of bathroom fixtures (new) for some reason end up there. But they get paint and stain every so often, but it is a "hope you like what they have and that they have enough" situations

I cleaned a spare filter that had been left outside forever and was gross. Soaked it in tsp, ahsome filter cleaner and bleach, then hosed and hosed and hosed.

Got the pool landscaping mostly done. It is my sincere hope that the rocks will help to cut back on all the worms I'm constantly dealing with!

Would love to do something to my pool but....after a summer of no swimming last year and closing the cover for extended time... Hurricane Helene came to town. Unbelievable tree destruction in town and 2 weeks without power. Peeked under the cover once power restored and water still sparkling clear. Whew- dodged a bullet there.

Since then these past two months with wild storms we've had there are now 3-100' trees fallen and the tops are over the edge of my pool cover! The tree removal company can't fix this problem until after The Masters (which falls first full week of April). It's like one thing after another around here...I just can't wait for summer!!!

Checked my FC to keep track and the salt after adding a bunch to get ready for the season. Swapped out Mr. Flowboto’s bag as it was full of pine needles. Admired my TFP-clear, 50 degree pool water and then took a really warm shower after jumping in with my daughter for a couple of early season minutes.

Put the solar cover on yesterday and heated the pool to 80F. 90+F temps start next week so pool time has started!

I woke up at 28 this morning. I'll probably get the equipment running later because some days are dancing near 60.

And impatient. I mean. 98% impatient and 2% sometimes 60 degrees.

*edit some hours later. Equipment out of the basement/shed and is back at the pad and all lubed up. It'll take 2 mins to pop the return plugs and gizmos whenever I want to fire it up.

Replaced the wheels and tracks on Rosey (Maytronics Active 30). The wear over the previous 4 seasons had eroded the wheel bushings and stretched the tracks so much that the tracks were jumping the teeth on the wheels. Also cracked open the motor housing to check for water ingress. Still clear. Re-lubed the o-ring seal and sealed back the motor housing. Reassembled and she's running the inaugural run for the season. Would have ran last week but I delayed checking out what was wrong with her from last fall when she quit running. Was late enough that I decided to put her away for the season.

Threw my Aiper S1Pro in and let it clean away while I vacuumed the steps of tanning ledge with my hand-held vac. Water was 49dg so it was Not a pleasant experience, but I Have to fiddle with the pool somehow on my days off. My FC level as 15.5 from Slam level at closing time.
