In addition to my frustration with the previous owners ignorance in all things pool care, this is what the power cord to the old system ran through.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, that is a 1/2" liquidtite fitting. I swear I could go bust a couple heads right now. I'm dumber for seeing this. The cord was just run through the middle of that fitting without any liquidtite conduit. OMG!!! The insanity!!!

Ran the TigerShark while I was at work today. Pulled it out and heard some rattling. Found this:

Time for new bearings. Don't think it lost another battle with the pool thermometer...

I added some muriatic acid and bleach today based off of my test results from yesterday. My two oldest kids tested the water this evening and then covered the pool with the solar cover. Hopefully we will be ready to swim this weekend. Pool temp had dropped to 67 with the cool nights and the cloudy day today. Appears my heat pump needs freon. It goes through the motions but doesn't add any heat to the water and the air discharged from the unit is not cold like it should be.

Update: Talked to my pool guy today and he said my Heat Pro would give an error if freon was low. Said is likely a starter capacitor on the compressor. I have a HVAC guy coming to check it out.

You got that right, but it's usually fun for kids seeing the tests. Seen it myself and a lot of people say it here as well. Welcome to the forum Mmurray. Congrats on the kit. I'll have to stop buy yours as well and see what you got. Good to have you with us! :goodjob:

Got My TF-100 Test kit in the mail and completed my first set of tests with my 5 year old daughters help. She loved when the water turned pink! Gotta enjoy these moments now before she hates me when she is 16 ;)

My kids JUST HAVE TO watch every time i test. I love it. My mom even watches when she is around. Although, the kids have asked me to make more colors. ITS JUST NEVER ENOUGH!!

Scooped out another 5000lbs of #%$& river birch seeds! I'll be so glad when they stop dropping seeds (probably in a week or so)!

HVAC guy stopped by this morning. It was the flux capacitor. Oops. The run capacitor. Pool is now heating with solar cover in place. Kids are going to run my water samples later as it is time for me to go to work.

My swamp had cleared to cloudy green and revealed all the leaves my son missed on leaf duty last week. So I attempted to set up my leaf eater McGyvered to my return fitting. It did not work to my satisfaction so I scooped up leaves with the rake and stirred up enough muck for it to be opaque green again. Time to restock on bleach!
