What did you do to your pool today?

Added some CYA and some Baking Soda. Now trying to figure ou what size screw goes into my skimmer cover as my autocover literally pulled the lid off my skimmer off when I was opening the cover up. Skimmer cover was gone and I was like where did it go. Found it in the cover box. Luckily no rips or anything to my cover. So I never had my skimmer cover screwed on so I have no idea what size screw goes in the CMP Skimmer Cover.

Stared morosely at the pretty blue pool when I added chlorine, having checked the temp and it was 72. Bah.
This was my husband about 10 minutes ago. Except our water is 68. He is desperate for a pool heater but not desperate to part with the cash. And since we have an old single speed pump, a pool heater = a new pump too.

Exactly our water temp too. Temps up and down here so haven't heated it up since a day in April. Gonna heat up the hot tub portion and soak for a half and hour. What the heck.

Swam! We had unseasonably warm temps today around 90. Water temp peaked at about 78. Hoping to get a few more swims in this weekend before air temps are back in the 60s next week.

I spent about 15min looking at my solar cover thinking how I’m going to remove all that pollen (about 1/16” thick) without dropping at least half of it into the pool… after 15min I resigned to the idea I’m going to clean the filter earlier this season.

I have to reverse the gasket and washer on the outlet because I put them in wrong when I installed it. Then I need to fix a long term leak in the skimmer, caused by cutting the gasket first instead of the pool. I was nervous about cutting the pool when I put it in, so I cut the butterfly gasket. Then I screwed up the screw holes. Gonna fix all that.

Filled the acid canister on my IntelliPH. It sure is nice handling acid once every six weeks rather than every 3 days...

My crazy son and his crazy friends got in the 72* pool. They had fun until the thunder started and it was game over. First swim if the summer though.

We swam… 78F outside water at 88F virtually no wind… pretty pleasant. Now I’m draining a bit … not only had water over the top of the skimmer because of a lot of rain yesterday, but everyone is complaining about the salty taste in the water (overshot to 3800ppm… trying to get down to 3300-3400).

My wonderful wife and I replaced our 11-year-old liner last week. Our fill water is from our well TA 110.
Today I begin lowering PH with muriatic acid to lower TA and aerate to raise PH. Our PVC aerator works well just over 3 hrs. to go from 7.2 to 7.6 and acid lowered TA 10ppm. Here`s are PVC PH raiser.

I added calcium and CYA. Also heated the pool to 80 to do a full heater test. My son took advantage of that and swam for half an hour before dinner last night. Getting ready for the predicted 95 and sunny on Saturday to officially open the pool with some family coming over. I'll heat the pool to 90 tomorrow as I can't really swim in lower temps (I have princess skin :laughblue:). My wife is forever mad at me for spoiling her to the wonders of bathwater temps in the pool :ROFLMAO::laughblue:. I'll do another full test today to hopefully see my CYA up around 70.

Yesterday I scooped a snake out of the pool. Just a little garden snake but those suckers are fast in the water! He was returned to his home in the tree line. Then this morning I scooped out like 100 worms since it rained last night. I could see the massive pile from my 2nd story bedroom window that overlooks the pool.

As I'm scooping those little disgusting creatures out, my dog finds a dead mouse floating by the steps and she proceeds to pick it up out and the pool and play with it until I can get her to drop it.

So yeah, all sorts of grossness in my pool the last few days. Needless to say, I'll be dosing with some extra chlorine just to be on the safe side. GROSS.

And it's going to be 90*+ this weekend so I imagine we'll be the pool.

The hubs is absolutely dying for a pool heater - He'd be so jealous of your 90* water! But he's also a cheapass and doesn't want to a) pay for the heater; b) pay for either the propane or electric to run it and c) pay for a new pump because our old-as-heck single speed pump ain't gonna cut it.
