All the problems with the pool getting clear and getting the old water out and clean water in, etc. Well, now we have a problem of a different color. We are in the middle of a wicked ice storm that has wreaked havoc on everyone. We are going into day 2 of no power. Long story short, the pool now has a big tree in it. Bec it is dark I cannot see very well but could see enough to know there is a tree missing and that there is a tree-looking thing sticking out of our pool. We will be calling the insurance company for sure. Once the sun comes up I will post pictures. 😪

Oh no 🙈
We are having an ice storm here too. Limb just took out the line to my house about 30 minutes ago. Prayers that everything else stays safe & warm for y’all & insurance covers the pool stuff.
I am currently contemplating whether to drain my hot tub or plug it in to the generator for a while - it’s above freezing here now but won’t be tonight.

So it's safe to assume you got all the debris and junk out of the pool? How does the water look? Did it get cloudy & murky with signs of algae yet, or is it absolutely 100% crystal clear?

For pH, did you mean to say 8.0?

Oh ye of WAY too much faith in me!!! Nope. I did not get all the junk out of the water. The tree has been removed and the top of the water has been rid of leaves. However, we are still waiting for our electrician to come out and check all the outlets and wiring out there. Also need to make sure that there is no glass on the bottom. The water? Well .......... it looks like the swamp from Shrek. Am I sad? Why, yes! Yes, I am!

Sorry to hear. Well then, there's not much you can do until the equipment is safe to start again so you can circulate water. If you really wanted to do "something", you could try to add some liquid chlorine carefully, but you would have to manually sweep it around a bit to mix. You don't want chlorine just landing on one area of the liner. It's by no means efficient for your situation, and you can't start a SLAM Process yet, but that's about all you could do. It might help keep a green mess from getting even worse, or at least slow it down slightly. Keep us posted and good luck!

Hopefully y'all will remember my tales of woe concerning our pool that resembled a swamp. Well, I'm happy to report that after a lot of hard work and determination it is doing wonderfully. See the before and after shots. Thanks to all of you who offered advice and ideas. They were wonderful.

Whoo hoo! Just in time for swim season 🥰
Let’s Be certain that you’re completely in the clear by making sure you’ve passed ALL 3 end of slam criteria:
*CC is 0.5 or lower;
*You pass an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
AND
*the water is clear.
(Crystal Clear w/no algae dead or alive)

Then let’s keep it that way by never allowing fc to below minimum for your cya
FC/CYA Levels & hopefully never need to do the
SLAM Process again 👍🏻
