I wouldn't work at changing the TA, just let it settle where it wants to with the acid additions required to keep the pH in the 7.4/7.8 range. If the TA increases you will probably see the pH rise faster than the rate it is changing right now.
I hear you. CSI is 0 at 7.8 right now, and 8 is still in the safety zone, so I think when it hits 7.8, I'll wait one more day before adding acid. Do you think there is there any risk of scaling when letting it get to 8 for very short periods of time?
