Weir Sticking Closed

I am finding the Weir on my Hayward skimmer sticking closed at times and not letting enough water in. I think I saw something about sanding a little off the sides but I'm not sure how to remove it to work on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Typically the sides of the skimmer can be pushed out a bit and the pivot points for the skimmer can be gently forced out of the slots.

There are a number of different weir door / skimmer combinations. You might try searching the forum for some ideas. Select G for the best results.

There are also some weir doors that are mounted with screws. The weir is attachee to a hinge mechanism and the hinge is screwed into the bottom of the skimmer.

Look on the skimmer lid for a model number. This will sometimes lead you to the correct model number of the skimmer and hende the correct weir door.

Figured out how to get it out but not sure what was causing it to stick. Unable to get it to stick again.

Hard to say. Plastic stuff can move, debris can get caught in the area, etc.
