Yes, the dots in the larger areas, and the dark gradient is the give away for a Northern Copperhead.
Venomous Eastern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix) for us in SC. Hershey kisses pattern. Venomous. Admire from a distance. Can spray with some water from the hose and he’ll move on. (In this case he's already waterlogged however)

I'm modestly surprised I haven't seen more TFP threads about the double brood of (13 year and 17 year) cicadas that emerged this summer in parts of the midwest. At the peak, this was my skimmer basket..... every 3 hours! My daughters loved them and played with them, so I'm declaring them pets! 
That’s close to how my skimmer looked with the cicadas and I have a bot skimmer also that was very full every day.
I think once they were done the smell of them decaying was way worse .
I ran the swg at top of range and pool held up fine

I don't live around cicidas but this time of year all the Beatles emerge from the ground and more than once in the last week my skimmer look like that full of dead beatles. That's with having a critter saver next to the skimmers. My son does love the ones with the quarter inch pinchers.

Paul, are you referring to the pic you posted with the skimmer full of cicada bugs? This monthly contest category is for TFP owner pets. That post is more suited for something like the thread below. I can move that post over there if you would like. Or, once the pets contest is over in a week or so, I plan on un-deleting all of those miscellaneous posts anyway.
