Waterfall pump went out. Found a part....

Cleaned the basket of the waterfall. It hadn’t been used in weeks. The waterfall has its own dedicated pump. At the bottom of the basket was some sort of flange. Tried filling the pump with water to prime it and it won’t fill. Pump turns on but not pulling water. Any help is appreciated.

That's the flapper from the check valve.

Thanks. Figured it played a part in helping to fill the pump when serviced. Can you point me in the right direction to fix it or do I need to call a pro?

There should be a check valve in front of the pump with a clear lid.

Remove the screws, replace the lid, reinstall the screws.

Make sure that the flapper opens toward the pump.

When reinstalling the screws, rotate the screw counterclockwise until it drops into the original hole threads and then clockwise to tighten.

Don't use power tools.

When reinstalling the screws, be extra careful not to cross-thread the screws in the plastic threads.

Get the screws snug, but not super tight.
