Water Test Kit Advice?

what is the CYA number I need? 60? 70? how long will it take for it to dissolve? how much do I put in the sock? looks like I need 6.6 pounds. do I put that all in sock at once?

For an swg pool we recommend a cya level of 70 to 80 PPM. I would recommend you target on the lower end around 70 PPM initially. Poolmath will calculate how much you need to add to to reach your target from your current level. I tend to split it into two large athletic socks and tie them together and hang them over a pole dangling in front of a return jet.

I still can not believe how clear the pool is. I thought it would never be this clear! Thanks everyone for the help.

I have not added any chlorine in over a week.

is it that that low from my undersized SWG? I am in process of getting it replaced with a IC40.

Are you running the SWCG 24 hours a day at 100%? That might come close to keeping up. You might have to add chlorine every couple days.
You should be testing FC and pH every day until you are sure you understand the trends. Then at least 2 or 3X per week.

I put it on 100% and put 1 gallon of chlorine in on Sunday. Test yesterday showed FC: 8.5 CC: 0.5.
FC: is 9 CC: is 0.5. I did add 2 gallons of LC yesterday since I was at 2.5 FC the day before. I thought this was sand in the pool and could not figure how it got there. It brooms away. I just cleaned it Friday and now its back again. After reading on here it looks like its algae. How do I get rid of it? You can see black spots In the photo.

You need to do a quick SLAM. Water is clear so it shouldn't take too long. You let the FC get too low and algae started growing. SLAM with a FC level based on your CYA according to the FC/CYA chart.
I did a quick slam 2 weeks ago. Now it’s back again. Could it be mustard algae? Should bring it up to that shock level for mustard algae?
