water inlet pipe blew off my jxi heater with versaflo

jandy jxi heater with integrated jxi versaflo bypass
turned on main pump and had a water explosion the (poorly installed tiny bit of cement ) input hose blew off the heater
but it has worked for 5+ year so doubt it was just the joint
seems like water cannot get through the heater either through the bypass or through another way
is that possible
anyone had experience with this problem troubleshooting etc

How old is your JXI heater?

Do you see the Versaflo bypass opening when the heater starts?

We have heard many problems with the Versaflo valve and the piston arm that operates it.

Post pics of your heater and the pipe area that blew off.
