Water Guru Sense 2

I have had the Sense 2 for about a month now, just swapped to my 2nd cassette (c5) and the results are consistent. I even messed with the chemicals a little bit over a 5 day period just to make sure it wasn't using some kind of algorithm to skew the results. Purposely didn't add MA and turned the swg up to 100% and watched the daily PH go up, which also matched my taylor kit. FC readings are usually within .5ppm of error which is good enough for me. I am in South Florida and we are getting cooked right now, my FC can fluctuate very hard but the Sense 2 numbers don't lie.

I've had the Sense 2 for about 2 months now and I like it a lot. As this is my first time taking care of the pool myself, it's nice to see how the trends move and I can head off any problems as they come up. I don't want to test every day and this is a way for me to see how everything reacts as a whole. The color testing is difficult for me to differentiate so discrete numbers are good to reference. After a while I may get the whole thing down, but this is great for newbies and data needs like myself.
I changed their recommended ranges to the TFP ranges in the web interface and I am just tweaking what pH and chlorine levels I feel comfortable with and how often I need to add chemicals now. I don't want to have to stress about getting the pool just right the days before a pool party and the Sense let's me see a nice snapshot. I wish the app let me change the ranges, but I have the web page bookmarked on my phone so I just jump in the few times I had to change it.
Note it is not a continuous test. It runs once a day unless you manually run it. I figured this when I bought it, but it's not very clear on the website.

Does anyone know if you can stop using a cartridge mid month and start it up again later? I've been meaning email them to ask, but thought I would ask.
Ever get an answer on this

I've never specifically stopped mid month for any purpose other than the cartridges arriving later than expected. So, while it wasn't on purpose it wasn't an issue either. Once I got the new cartridges, I just put one in, reset the counter and the S2 tested on the next scheduled run.

You could just take the batteries out and put them back in when you're ready to use them again. There is no specific way to stop the schedule within the app though. (At least not one I've found.)

FWIW, I haven't been a huge fan of the WaterGuru's consistency. I do think it has great potential and I'm hoping it will only improve with time. But, compared to the Taylor test kit, the numbers just aren't very accurate. Even if it does stay consistent internally, that's not really what I'm looking for out of the product. I also notice that while the numbers are consistent per cartridge, those numbers can vary wildly once you put a new one in.

But, while I'm on vacation it's a great little tool to have to keep an eye on things.

I didn't get a straight answer from the email. Pretty generic info and I didn't have time to follow up. I will probably call them soon and see if I can get a straight answer.

Day to day there is variability as is expected. A few tenths in pH is well within the margin of error and I check weekly with my test kit and it's as close as I can discern from one shade of red to another. Chlorine is pretty steady. As a beginner totaling care of my own pool, it's nice to have pretty good data day to day and have the ability to get ahead of any problems before they get really bad.

Mine is definitely not only a few tenths off from the Taylor K-2006. It’s a great deal off, especially on the CH and CL.

But, this may vary depending on the cassette. I have two days left on this latest one. When I put a new one in, I’ll bet the numbers will be very different from the previous.

Again, I think the product has potential, but seeing how different the numbers are from the standard Taylor kits, I just can’t simply trust it all the time.

I got a Sense 2 a few months ago and I have loved it. I feel it's been accurate and working per their description with no issues.

But they just shipped me a replacement unit without any heads up or questions or information about mine. It was really easy to swap out the replacement so I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the recall?

I just read through this whole thread and it seems like the TL;DR is that it works ok for FC and pH, but not so well with CH, CYA and TA. It costs from $250 (S1) to $300(S2) and then you would be spending $10-20 per month on the supplies. To me that doesn't sound horrible as my CH, CYA and TA don't change much so I rarely test for these.
