Water got cloudy

Pool was clean and clear. All the numbers were on target. After all the rain we had the PH was 6.8. I had PH plus. Right after I added the PH the water got cloud so bad I couldn’t see 3 ft deep. It happened in 3 minutes. The only think I’m using different this year is cal hyp. My number on PH now is 7.2. Like I said numbers are spot on. I took the two filters out and they were bad. All yellow pollen. I was shock to see this before I just cleaned them last week.

Sudden pH change can precipitate Calcium. I think if you just be patient it'll clear.

I though the same. It will clear up so I left the pump run all night and day Saturday. Sunday still cloudy so that’s were I pulled the filters and cleaned. Ran pump all day Sunday and last night. Still cloudy this morning. Normally with the sta - rite 120 filter system cleans the water great. I just did the numbers again and it’s on target.

Still can’t see the bottom of pool. I only added 2 lb of PH plus. Like i said. As I dumped the ph plus it was like I threw a smoke bomb in the pool. It got cloudy as I dump the PH in. In 3 minutes the pool turned cloudy. I never seen this happen

what are your fc and cya numbers and what test kit are you using

I have the Taylor 2006. My CYA is 40. Funny you asked this. The past 3 years I been using pucks and CYA was 200 to 300. This year I am using cal hyp. I try to use liquid chlorine but it was to much to buy. I was going to the store every week getting 20 gallons. Not to mention the kids and wife freaked out seeing all that chlorine. They just don’t understand.

Sounds like it might be time for a SWCG. It just makes life easier.

my Son just bough a home and that pool has SWCG. I will be learning about that. I looked into it and I would need. More then 2 SWCG due to the amount of water we have. Getting back to my pool. I just aimed all the returns down into the deep. I had them up because the kids like to see the water. Maybe it will circulate better ?

I just picked up all new drops for my Taylor 2006. Glad I did. They were over a year old. I left them in the shed in heat and cold. Here are my numbers. FC 5.6 TC 5.9 PH 8 was 6.8 I put in PH plus Saturday and that’s what causes water to get cloudy. Alkalinity 57 -(low) CYA 70 CH 150. Where do I go from here to clear this pool. Seem I have to raise Alkalinity and lower PH.

I called today asking about SWG. The guy came today. He said. Mr. Downs you w ould need two of our biggest SWG. If I did install it. Next week when I call you to come pick up a pallet of salt your going to get Tick at me. You would need a forklift. Don’t do it !!!
