Troubleshooting Low Water Flow error on my Pentair UltraTemp and I've noticed that a sensor plumbed into PVC pipe just before the Ultratemp inlet has some frayed wires. I've traced the two White wire leads on it and they run directly to the Control Board and therefore, based on the schematic, seem to be wires for the Water Pressure Switch (36 on the Exploded Parts diagram, Part Number 473605). However, the Part 473605 is not the same looking part. Below are photos of my installation, of a similar looking Pentair part and then the actual Part 473605. Could this pump have been set up with this "other" flow switch type???

This is a water FLOW switch…

This is a water PRESSURE switch. Heaters use water pressure switches for flow sensing.

For some reason your HP installer replaced the standard water pressure switch with an external flow switch.

OK, I have discovered a section in the UltraTemp manual that may explain things. I am not the original owner of the pool so I'm learning as I go. Our pool equipment pad sits well below the surface of the swimming pool and the manual states that when the heat pump water connections are greater than 6ft below the surface of the pool water that an external flow switch would need to be added to disable the heat pump when the pool pump is not running.
