Waste valve location question

Hi,

I want to add a waste valve to my pool plumbing. Primary use would be to drain water from the pool when it overfills from rain. My question, is there any reason not to locate the valve between the pump and filter?

Most new pools are built with garden hose faucet right between the pump and the filter for just that purpose...

Mine had a garden hose hookup that would not drain nearly fast enough. It started leaking so replaced it with a T and a 1.5” 3/4 valve. This thing pumps water quick now
You want to put it before the filter nonsense in dumping filtered water to waste
