VLIG Expansion - something a bit different.

I don't expect to have to run it all that long, my pump runs 10hrs a day at low speed so I would like to keep the same schedule with the salt system...i'll run it at whatever level is necessary to fit that. I would think 50%-ish should be fine but who knows until I try it. I also only have a five-month season. As long as the cell lasts until it wears out and the controls last through a couple cells then i'm fine with that. But if I find myself replacing controls or the cell after a couple seasons because they just stop working, that will be the end of the salt adventure.

You will get a nice lifespan. May in PA is nothing like May in southern FL, TX or AZ. But like I said they need FC either way so it’s a moot point if they replace the unit sooner or use more liquid than you. I’m in line with you in NY and I’m chugging along this year at 40% runtime (24/7) even with the current heat wave and increased demand.

Been awhile since I updated, was out of town for a week but there's lots of progress to report...

Backfilling done and coping installed;

Deck and shallow end bottom done:

Pad Plumbing done (this was my task, not the builder's):

So now we are just waiting on the liner. There are some minor details to work on in the meantime but we're almost there. For the pool at least. Then there's the paver sundeck and firepit area, the deck extension for the hot tub and steps, and landscaping. Tons of work to do. Those items will be a lot less daunting when we have a pool to jump into when we need a break though.

Well I know it seems like forever since I last updated this thread, but I finally finished the project last week. Yeah there are some small details left to work out and there is of course the fact that something like this is NEVER finished (especially when you have a wife that frequents pinterest)...but the way I look at it, the "pool renovation" is complete.

Enjoy:

I also added a Raypak 206a and CMP Salt Ultra 540 this spring:
