Vinyl Liner Problem

Does anyone know why my onyx vinyl pool liner is turning dark in the areas that people walk on in the pool. Once someone walks or presses the liner with a part of their body it turns completely dark. The other areas stay the original color of the liner. Liner is just 3 years old.

I have a picture somewhere, but can't find it. The new look is the brighter color you see on the near side of the photo by the pool light and picture of my toe. As your eye travels down you will see it get dark and that is where my kids swim to the bottom and push off as its 8 feet deep. The brand is Latham Onyx Liner 15'x28'

How are you walking on the bottom of the deep end ?

My kids swim to the bottom and where the pool walls are angled and push off. When they do this it leave a permanent dark mark. Our shallow end is completely dark as its been completely walked on everywhere. If I took a picture of the shallow end you wouldn't notice as it's all dark. The deep end in the picture you can still see some of the original lighter color and speckles and then the dark spots where they pushed off.

Strange - usually liners get lighter over time due to uv exposure/fading.

@JamesW has mentioned here about organics being under the liner perhaps thats a possibility? What was it like on the pool surface before putting the liner in?

Our pool installer put down a layer of some sort of concrete like substance that allowed him to form a smooth surface.

It's so strange because the dark areas only show up with stepped on with pressure from your foot/body etc.. If the area has not been pressed upon then it stays the original pattern/color.

Seems like it is probably going to be due to the product that was put down as the bottom.

Check with the builder and the liner manufacturer to see what they say.
