Hello all,
I am looking to replace my single speed filter pump motor with a VGreen EVQ225 (with Century Connect) for variable speed benefit. A search of the forum finds little on this set up, and if others have had success with the automation via RS485 and Intellitouch indoor controller. Can anyone share results on this? Any tips on setting up automation are appreciated? Thank you

Thanks ajw22. I did see this thread but haven't seen anyone say they "hooked it up and it worked great" I know there are a lot of Intellitouch still out there and VGreen seems to be an easy motor swap(don't even have to rewire to Line side power). Thanks for your time.

Seems to be many more EasyTouch and Intellicenter systems here then IntelliTouch. Lot’s of folks seem to be taking Pentair up on their upgrade offer to IntelliCenter.

Let’s see who uncloaks.

Yes, you do need to wire to the "line side" so the motor has constant power in order for the Intellitouch to have control of the variable-speed aspect of the motor, just like any other VSP.

Thanks for responding poolman. According to the video link below (minute 3:16) it implies the pump motor power cycles on and off with relay, which is what I would achieve with the pump relay wired to load side and on a programed timer. When power is cycled on the pump motor would start through its preprogramed steps and then start all over the next day at the same time when the pump motor is cycled on again. If this is the case I do not see why I would rewire to the line side unless I am overlooking something. I am assuming the motor has the capability to store programing when power is cycled off.
Thank you

If you just want to power the motor on and off you use a relay. If you want control of speeds and when they change you use the RS-485 and the motor receives constant power. If your IntelliTouch can control a VSP, it can control that motor as a Pentair VSP with the wiring and DIP switches set as in the manual.
If you don't want that kind of control, just power it on and off through the relay you are using now for a single-speed pump as in the video.
