I recently installed a Vgreen 165 on my Hayward Super 2. Last night the temperature dropped to 31 degrees and the freeze protection failed to activate. The green light was on, so the pump was active. Any ideas out there?
Until the issue gets resolved, the best thing to do is have the pump run at night. Generally, the hours of 2AM to 8AM are considered the "freezing hours and having the pump running at that time is a protection. If the temperatures are staying very low all day, a 24hr schedule might be best for the duration of the freezing temps. Run at a lower speed to keep the water moving and the cost down.
