Very Green Start Up EVERY YEAR!

I'm so jealous of my neighbors in the spring. They take their cover off and their water is clear and blue with some dirt on the bottom. I take my cover off and it is thick with green algae. I have to slam $$$ and it's a weeks time battling the green goo before I can actually use my pool. What am I maybe doing wrong that my neighbors are not? I tried closing later, opening sooner, slamming before putting the cover on for the winter and nothing seems to make a difference. Please help

Close after October 31, open April 15. Follow this guide to a T. I always open with 2-3FC.

Hard to tell without knowing all of your processes and seeing water chemistry just before closing. Below is the TFP link if you haven't see it already. This fall be sure to check in with us as you prep and we'll go over things with you.

Does the type of cover I'm using matter? I have a mesh cover.....they all seem to have a solid type cover with a small square in the center that is mesh. I feel like I am following the TFP "closing and in ground pool" steps but come spring my neighbors are swimming and I'm slamming!!!

I have a mesh cover.

Did you add the PolyQuat 60? Did you close after October 15 with water temp below 60? Did you open around april 15 and water temps below 60?
