Variable Speed Question

I have a Jandy ProSeries pump which is variable speed. Just installed a month ago and the builder set it to run 13 hrs a day. Can I assume in that 13 hr run it changes speeds on its own, specific periods? I have noticed at times its running fast and other times slower. I was curious if that's programmed or what triggers the speed changes
