Variable speed question

Good morning all,

Got a question. Im just getting up and running and am trying to figure out the whole variable speed thing. I wired a timer to my 1.5-HP 2-Speed Matrix Pump. The pump itself has a high-OFF-Low switch. I understand that the low setting uses substantially less energy. Do most people just leave it on the low side?

Yes, in most cases, you can leave the pump on low speed. The only time you might need high speed would be for a quick cleaning or vacuuming.

The two ways to run a 2-speed pump (Not a VS pump) is to run on low speed most of the time and then manually flip a switch when you want to run on high speed.

The other way is to install a 2-speed timer. This timer acts as the switch. They normally have two clocks and you can set them to run the pump on low or high at the times you want.

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.
