Just curious if anyone has any experiences to share with a great (or bad) pump that would steer me in the right direction?

Looking for a 1.5HP variable speed. We run our pump 24/7 so i'm hoping the variable speed will help with energy. Local pool store tells me to stay away from hayward as they see a lot of warranty tickets for hayward. They are recommending pentair superflo.

Current pump is an amazon special (no-name) and constantly trips the breaker.

That is a great pump.
There are 'off brand' alternatives for far less money. But if you are hiring someone to install, go with the Superflo VS.

My current pump is a Black & Decker 3 hp variable speed pump. I replaced my Pentair Intelliflow VS 3050. Because the keypad went bad. You have to buy the whole controller because the keypad is not sold separately. The cost of the controller is around $1000. I purchased the pump new & installed it myself in 2009. I did not want to spend that much money to repair that old of a pump. I think them Pentair Intelliflow is a better pump than the Black & Decker, but the verdict is still out.
