I had a large family party (prob 30 people in pool) on Saturday and I’ve learned a lesson on making sure to boost chlorine more next time.
I started the SLAM process yesterday evening as, while the FC was never for under 3ppm w 0.5CC, I noticed I would add liquid chlorine to boost FC to 6-7 range and it would consume fast. At first I thought maybe I lost too much CYA from water loss but CYA is at 50 so I started SLAM.
Overnight chlorine loss was at 5ppm so I’m continuing SLAM today and will be testing every 2 hours and adding liquid chlorine.
My question is, what recommendations do the TFP experts have given that I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow (Uber takes us to airport at 645am). If the OCLT still shows more than 1ppm overnight, do I boost the FC to something crazy and turn the SWG back on and say a prayer that I don’t come home to a swamp? Is there a difference in boosting FC to 30-40 at once vs holding it at 20ppm per PoolMath for SLAM if nobody is swimming?
Appreciate the help as I’m struggling with this one.
pH: 7.5 yesterday
FC: 12.5 this morning
CC: 0.5
CYA: 50
TA: 50
Borates: 12
Salt: 3400
