Hey everyone. Need y’all’s thoughts please.

current pump motor (single speed 2.0 HP) rusting and bearings are on way out. A previous thread mentioned these motors will be phased out soon. Was going to order another, but saw the VGreen eco retro variable speed motor that is supposed to be a direct bolt on replacement change to VS motor. Thoughts, for and against. The costs are relatively similar just not sure of the ease of swapping just the motor (any issues with existing pump, etc). Thanks in advance.

Check the total horsepower of the existing motor. Your post says 2hp, your signature 1.5hp.
If the total horsepower is 2.25 or less, the EVO 225 would work well. The programming is something you would have to get used to as the options are limited. They use your existing timeclock.
For more control you could use the Nidec Neptune 225 version. It has a built-in timeclock and has much more flexibility in programming.
You don't say which Hayward pump you have so recommending the correct motor model would need that info.

@Jsherman If you do go for the VGreen Evo, confirm that you get one that supports automation.

They were sold for a while with that part of their firmware not working and a dead RS-485 port.

I've not been able to extract any more information from the company that doesn't have any support lines for that motor at all.
