UWF (hose attachment) leaking

Hey everyone. I’m a new pool owner and this is my first post/problem I’ve experienced. We have a brand new Polaris 280 and the part that screws into the wall (UWF) has separated and is leaking. Has anyone had this issue before? Should I just contact Polaris and see if they will warranty it?
Also, I noticed while searching for these that they make a quick detach version. I think that would make removing the cleaner a lot easier when using the pool. Would I be better off sticking with the screw in type or does it matter (reliability wise). Thanks!

Welcome to TFP.

I have never seen a UWF that is not quick disconnect. The quick disconnect looks solid if you are not familiar with it. You have to push it in and twist it for it to come apart.

If the Polaris is new you should put in for a warranty claim on the leaking part.

The Universal Wall Fitting (UWF) screws into the pool wall (actually into a pipe embedded in the wall) and there is sometimes a restrictor plate behind it.
Then the Quick Connect has a slotted locking mechanism that goes into the UWF
The UWF should be screwed in to form a seal on the pipe it is connected to. The UWFthen stays in place The Quick Connect is rotated to connect or disconnect the cleaner hose from the wall (UWF). See picture

Perfect, and your right mine was quick disconnect as well. I wish the pool company would have told me that in the pool school. Mine is new and I’ll try putting a claim in. Ended up going to Leslie pool store and spending too much money on a new one. Oh well, live and learn. If Polaris warranties mine I’ll just save it as an extra.
