UT New Build - Update (start up 5/21)

Just make sure there is plenty of room for you to work on the equipment if/when you put up a cover.
As always, thanks @kimkats. That one I'm going to need to find some sort of happy medium for since it's so tight with the pool cover. There will only be about 2-3' between the equipment pad and the pool to get around that corner. Was thinking may I would do the removal slide posts for when would need to do work on the pad. Less than ideal but need to make do with the space I have.
Update: It's been slow around here on the pool front. Two weeks ago they were trenching gas and electrical lines. As others suggested, I had them run an extra electrical line to the other side of the pool by the seating area and also had them run a line to a future shed area. They cut through the RV pad to be able to run the electrical to the panel. The gas line looked like a lot of work. The line was run from one corner of the lot all the way to the other corner, basically, the furthest point that could be imagined for my lot. They had to go under all the sprinkler lines coming from one of the boxes and ended up cutting a bunch of the lines so they could dig. I'm so glad I'm not the one trying to figure out how to piece the sprinkler system back together, I would have no clue where to start at this point. I also have some new piles of dirt and rocks they have dropped off, no clue that is all going to go. I'm guessing it will be for the decking at some point. I also notice a new hole in the hot tub shell, add that to the list of things the PB says he will fix.
After all that excitement, we did not see anyone until today. This morning a truck dropped off pallets with the coping pavers
I opened up two of the pallets to make sure they were the right color. I think I found a shed at Costco this weekend that could work for the pool equipment. My PB says it would all fit in there but I'm still wrestling with what I want to do. I think I will end up either doing a shed (Costco or custom) or vinyl fending with a gate and removable post. The vinyl fence would give me the best access to work on it but it would not be cover from the sun and Utah snowy winters.
I have been slowly ordering my Polywood furniture. I love that it can be left out during the winter without worrying about it getting ruined and their 20-year warranty. So far, I've got two Adirondack chairs and just ordered my first lounge chaise. I say slowly because the best deal I could find was ordering it from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and using their 20% coupons but I have to wait for a new coupon each month
Hoping they will get going on the waterline tile and coping soon.

I like the pavers. They look similar to what I want for a path to the side gate but they are out of stock

Oooh! Thanks for the tip! Didn't know they are at BB&B. I got 2 smaller/shorter adirondacks from there for my shelf so far. I plan on getting 2 larger ones for the patio.

I really like those pavers. Concrete makes me so nervous in Utah. The freeze thaw cycle out here just isn't conducive to it not exploding at some point.
I'm leaning towards porcelain pavers, but am a bit worried about the slippery nature of porcelain....

Love seeing snow on the mountains! So pretty. Does the snow/weather impact your build?
I don't know about porcelain pavers but I do know interior porcelain tile has a non-skid surface. We love ours. I'm sure if you look at them online you'll find answers. I looked at one that is rated for cold weather and lists safety features. Here is one spec:
"Completely nonporous, they will not stain and require no sealing. They will remain looking as good as the day they were installed! Extremely high slip resistance for all finishes, ensures a safe outdoor floor area wet or dry."

The mountains surrounding the valley here are covered in snow, at least to the north and east. It's beautiful! I was on a high point of the freeway and wished I could stop and take a picture. It's a rarity here so it's even more exciting

Luckily our winter has been unusually light with snow. It definitely impacts it but the PBs seem to have found ways to work around it and keep their crews busy. Case in point, I came home from work tonight to find this over the pool
, that was a surprise. Looks like they are starting on the waterline tile and coping. They had smoothed out cement both on the steps and around most of the perimeter. There is a big gas heater in there keeping nice and warm, felt like it was about 80 degrees when I was under that tarp. Looks like they are going to run the heater all night. I climbed under hoping to find the tile to make sure it the right one but no boxes of tile yet.Attachments
Snagged this when I was headed out the door for work this morning. They now built an entryway for the tent (good thing because it was hard for me to get in there last night ). The pavers sure do look dark from the side view. Excited to see the progress when I get home.

Yes do check the tile boxes as they come in. We had the wrong tile arrive, something I remarked on when we signed the contract. . . . But called 2 days later and said 'That's not definite.' Then we decided on another and our designer didn't write down the change. I mean hubby talked to him in person when returning the tile samples. I phoned about it. And emailed, too. Why he messed up is anyone's guess.

Just looked at your pictures. Is your first step into the pool super steep? As I noted in another thread, the coping adds 2-3 inches more in the step down. Something to think about if you have young kids.
If you just try to step directly onto the sun deck, it a big step. It seems like if they use the step in the corner of the sun deck, they would be good though. I haven't really tested them out though. Good thought.
Sorry about your mix up on the tile. Hopefully, they corrected it. We changed the coping color and I was worried that the same thing would happen. Luckily our PB texted me to confirm the coping before it was delivered and he did have the old wrong color. Told him we switched it so I'm glad he checked. I'm not as worried about tile since we haven't switch that up but you never know.

I just looked at your gunite pics and I think your step is fine. It looks like there will be just enough room for tile so you couldn't add anymore to the step if you wanted too. Mine was much lower.
Crew was gone when I got home but the tile is here and it the right one Tested the steps out and they are great, should be no problem for the little ones. They cut the bullnose to most of the coping pieces. It's looking good Greenhouse heater is still running.

Your tile is beautiful! It's crazy how much it looks like mine. Can't wait to compare. What color grout are you getting?
I forgot our tile is basically the same. I'm glad you like it, that means you love yours! Good question, we didn't choose a grout color. Figured we would do white to match the plaster but is white a pain to keep clean. What color are you doing? Now I need to go look at a bunch of pool pictures like I haven't already been doing that for months and months.
