I plan on closing the pool this year. I watched the installer close the pool last fall and took notes. My question is how he connected the blower to clear the main drains and skimmer line. The main drain lines and skimmer line attach to a diverter and then to the suction side of the pump.
He put the Hayward Vari-Flo valve in between two settings (valve does not have a winter setting). He then connected the blower to the Waste port on the filter. He closed off the skimmer with the diverter valve and blew out and air locked the main drain. He then finished the skimmer with a gizmo installed. I assume the air flow went through the Vari-Flo valve, directly to the pump and out to the suction side.
Question, would it be better setting the valve to the Waste position on the valve instead of between two settings? Not sure if this does the same thing.
I was also thinking to connect the blower to the inside of the pump basket housing on the suction side blowing air directly into the suction line. I can use the diverter valve as he did for the main drains and skimmer.
Thanks
