Using a coupling with every little PVC remaning?

Hi All,

I'm starting my journey of upgrading my pump to a VS pump and since I have zero plumbing experience, I thought I start there and go through with you guys what I feel are several plumbing challenges I think I about to face.

Problem #1:

On the suction side, I have an actuator that is controlling suction from spa or skimmer and main drain. The amount of leftover PVC on the out port of actuator is about 3/4 inch. I drew a black line where I thought I would make the cut to attach a coupling for a straight run into the inlet of the new pump. (The current Jandy value before the pump is a SVRS which is obsolete is always off, so i'm going to get rid of it)

Question: Is 3/4 inch enough for 2inch coupling to create a straight into the new pump?
 
Ok so you guys are suggesting to keep the valve? I was thinking of getting rid of it since I don't need the SVRS that it is controlling.

Do you guys think, if I use a heat gun I can pull of the glued PVC from the input of the valve?
 
No need to keep the valve in the center if you don't need it. The simplest solution is to attach a 2.5" coupling to the valve on the left side of the photo as @JamesW mentioned.

Hello.

I had some rework done to the plumbing between the filter and chlorinator cell. I was worried what ugly mess the plumber was going to have to create because there were a few fittings close to each other that needed to be reworked and I thought that whole section was going to have to go.

The plumber showed me how easy it is to separate the fittings using heat. I was surprised!

I then experimented on some pvc drainage and it worked for me! It really isn't difficult. You just need to take your time so you don't burn anything you want to reuse.

There are times when using heat is the only alternative. In this case, there's no reason to risk damage to the valve. The valve is designed to accept 2" PVC inside and 2.5" couplings outside.
