Used Wrong Concrete Cleaner to Wash Pool Deck

I realize now that I should just use bleach when power washing my concrete pool deck. However, I washed the first few sections with Zep Concrete Cleaner (main ingredient: Sodium hydroxide) which in hindsight was dumb. I diluted according to instructions on bottle and used pressure washer. Some of the rinse water got into the pool. As a result my PH rose significantly.

I've since been able to rebalance chemicals and started the SLAM process to open pool. Everything has gone well except I'm noticing soapy suds on surface of pool which I never had in years past.

Should I be concerned about this product getting in pool? Will it eventually be filtered out of pool?

Thanks for any help.

Do you have a link to the exact product? The sodium hydroxide I wouldn’t worry about as long as you’ve taken care of the pH. The question is what else is in it.

It’s mostly sodium hydroxide and some surfactants. The lye will raise pH but that can be corrected with MA. The surfactants will breakdown over time but they may cause foaminess. You don’t need to do a full SLAM. Just raise chlorine up to maybe a half SLAM and hold it there for 24 hours. Keep filtering. You’ll be fine.
